Khalid khurshid declared ineligible as PTI president, barred from contesting polls

This Thursday's verdict by CEC adds a new chapter to the political landscape of Gilgit-Baltistan and emphasizes the importance of upholding integrity and legitimacy in public office

GILGIT — In a significant development, the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of Gilgit-Baltistan has declared former Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid Khan ineligible for holding party presidency and contesting elections in future.

The CEC Raja Shahbaz Khan ruling not only disqualifies Khan from his role as PTI president but also barred him from contesting elections.

The decision comes in response to a petition filed by a PTI stalwart Rehman Darelo, seeking Khan’s disqualification from both positions in light of chief court verdict. Earlier in July, the chief court G-B disqualified Khalid khurshid after his LLB degree proved fake.

Khalid Khurshid Khan served as the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan for over two years before he got disqualified.

This Thursday’s verdict by CEC adds a new chapter to the political landscape of Gilgit-Baltistan and emphasizes the importance of upholding integrity and legitimacy in public office.
